The Twitterverse is getting larger by the minute and sites like Stocktwits are gaining strong popularity among financial bloggers. But amidst all the hoopla, it can get mighty difficult to weed out the noise and focus on the opinions that matter to you. My list of Twitter “friends” and followers is public information but if you want to know who I think is really worth following, check out my list below. Keep in mind that my blog has never really been about short-term or day trading. So in preparing the list of Top Stock Tweets, I kept my audience on this blog in mind.

  1. @PeteNajarian – a regular on CNBC and co-founder of OptionMonster, Pete is nothing short of a rock-star. Look for good options trades and VIX related trades from him.
  2. @OptionMonster – Jon Najarian, brother of the aforementioned rock-star Pete, makes up the other half of this left right combination at OptionMonster. He too is a regular on CNBC and his tweets are certainly noteworthy.
  3. @JohnRutledgeDr. Rutledge is a global economist and has appeared many times on financial broadcast channels, including Kudlow and Company on CNBC. He was one of the first economists to truly understand the power of the Chinese economy.
  4. @247WallSt – the official tweet of 24/7 Wall St, this is a non-biased, well informed source of objective information.
  5. @DougKass – It is good to follow an experienced perma-bear like Doug Kass. He runs Seabreeze Partners and writes for theStreet.com and is often the voice of sanity when the market gets frenzied.
  6. @TobinSmith – Tobin Smith, founder of Changewave Research, a regular on Bulls and Bears on Fox, and brother of Gary B. Smith (aka Chartman) is one of those few people who are not afraid to state their opinion on a stock or recommend stocks to their readers.
  7. @StreetCom – the official tweet from thestreet.com website, one of the top financial news and opinion websites, founded by the famous Jim Cramer.
  8. @MarketBeat – this tweet from the Market Beat Blog of the Wall Street Journal is a good way to stay informed of various data points of the economy and the happenings on Wall Street.
  9. @ETFTrends – a good way to stay informed on moves in the ETF space. Run by Tom Lydon of ETF Trends.
  10. @WSJBusiness – purely financial news from WSJ Online.
The above are, in my opinion, some of the best financial and stock tweets that I recommend to readers of this blog. I follow each of them myself.
