1and1.com – Look for Web Hosting elsewhere
If you are thinking of having your own website, blog or looking to switch your current web hosting service provide, I recommend you pass on 1and1.com. For the last 3 days, my site has been down and still is as I write this. You see, while I have an account with Blogger.com, I use a custom domain (stocksandblogs.com) which is currently hosted by 1and1.com.
I made the mistake of changing some DNS settings with 1and1.com and the mistake of thinking that they 24 hour down-time estimate would hold true. It has been over 60 hours and they still have not fixed my account. Calling them every day has yielded no results. Their tech support is incompetent and have no inclination to help. Despite being tech support, they tell me to just wait and see. In their own words “We have to wait until the switch is done”. Well duh, here I thought tech support should be a little more insightful.
Anyway, first I wanted to tell you to avoid 1and1.com at all costs. They suck! Second, I wanted to apologize for the downtime and broken links. I assure you it is temporary and if 1and1.com does not come through by Monday night, I will switch to another web hosting service.
