Nasdaq (NDAQ) the company, not the index, has been pursuing London Stock Exchange for the longest time. For the last year, the company has been trying to buy exchanges in Europe. Now it is going after OMX. I am a little weary of their consecutive unsuccessful attempts to buy other exchanges. It also takes away from the focus the company should put towards their business. I'd rather invest in something like the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), which has a much better hold on its business.

I agree, the CME seems to have a much better business model than does the Nasdaq. The Nasdaq has actually been the laggard of the group, with ICE, NMX, and NYX all faring better the majority of the time.
